Abstract

Traffic lights have played an important role in regulating traffic flows since their es-tablishment in 1864. Since then, many studies have been conducted, and others are still ongoing, especially in urban areas, improving the operation of traffic light systems to meet the demand of road users. In this work, it is seen that little work has been done in the field of predictive mainte-nance related to traffic light systems. The method of emergency maintenance adopted in the litera-ture is not satisfactory, since the traffic light should not go out, especially during working hours. This article presents an autonomous inspection system that monitors the light-emitting signal of the traffic light system and warns maintenance operators via a short message service (SMS) about the need to replace the lamp head before it completely fails. It is shown in the main part of our general article.
