Abstract
The article presents an overview of the newest trend in management - sustainable development - in the context of conceptual models gravitating towards planetary well-being. These models are: Richard Barrett (1998), Ray Anderson (1999), William McDonagh and Michael Browngart (2002). Using the example of the Sustainability Report of the systemically important bank of Kazakhstan for 2020, interaction with the environment is shown in the following aspects: responsible consumption of resources and waste management, promotion of green projects. Taking into account the bank’s market share in terms of assets (1/3), the impact of the country’s banking sector as a whole on the environment has been calculated. The calculation of energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions has been carried out. The equivalent of energy consumption by the banking sector in tons of oil (number of railway tanks, dollar equivalent) and the need for solar energy (number and area of solar panels) are given.
