Abstract

In underground mining of high-gas-bearing coal seams, effective degasification of converging coal seams is a very important task. Its correct solution is possible with a proper understanding of the mechanism of methane movement from pre-developed adjacent formations into the workings of the main developed formation. The paper presents the results of research work on determining the dynamics of methane gas emission from coal seams being mined. For a number of faces of the Abayskaya mine of ArcellorMittal Temirtau JSC, studies of gas emission from the adjacent seams were conducted.
